VyprVPN Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals

  • More than 700 servers in over 70 countries
  • Netflix access in U.S, U.K, Canada and Germany
  • Dynamic IP addresses

When you picture Black Friday, you might picture mall madness: screaming babies, mothers with coupons in hand, and exhausted sales people just trying to get through the day. But in 2020, Black Friday is going to look a little bit more like Cyber Monday, as many people prefer to shop online versus in-person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And shopping isn’t just limited to what’s available at the mall; this year, we want to save on VyprVPN, a Switzerland-based Virtual Private Network that we tested out in our VyprVPN review. Let’s get started!

Deals, Deals Deals

Last year, VyprVPN offered its users two discounts on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday; sort of. Here are the deals they had for us:

  • A two-year plan for $60, a discount of 81 percent.
  • An annual plan for $45, a discount of 71 percent1.

At first glance, these seemed like pretty good deals, some of the best VPN Black Friday deals we’ve seen, actually. But when we looked at their regular pricing, we found that these discounts are in place year round, so technically, they didn’t offer any more savings on these sales holidays. Rats.

FYI: Many coupon websites say that they have deals for certain holidays, but when you check the pricing, the deals are no different from the normal pricing. That’s why we recommend skipping the coupon sites and checking the source directly: the company’s website.

That being said, they haven’t announced any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals for 2020, yet, but we’re waiting with breath that is bated. Of course, we’ll update this page as soon as we get intel to help you save as much as possible.

Regular VyprVPN Prices

Unlike some other VPNs which shall remain nameless, VyprVPN’s costs are pretty straightforward.

Personal Use Plans

Each plan gives you the exact same coverage, just for different term lengths. There’s one month, one year, and two years, with more savings as the term length increases. So even though they didn’t offer any additional discounts last Black Friday or Cyber Monday, year-round savings is never a bad thing.

Term length in months 2 18 36
Discount 50% 81% 87%
Number of free months 1 6 12
Monthly cost $6.47 $2.50 $1.67
Total amount billed $12.95 $45 $60

Tip: If you’re not sure about VyprVPN and want to try it out for yourself, the two-year plan has a 30-day, money-back guarantee; we recommend signing up to lock in that $2.50 a month rate, and then getting a refund if you don’t like it.

Business Plans

Clearly, the global pandemic has changed the way we work. More people are working from home, and even after there’s a vaccine and the world is back to normal, over half of employers say that the majority of their employees will continue to work at home.2 And while we all enjoy the lack of commute and the homemade lunches, with remote work comes insecure Wi-Fi networks and storage. Fortunately, VyprVPN has a few business solutions. Note that we only tested out their personal plans, but we wanted to fill you in on the regular prices anyway.

  • VyprVPN for Business: While it’s not entirely clear how many users or devices are covered, VyprVPN for business starts at $299 annually, with a free trial to boot.
  • VyprVPN for Business Cloud: Not all email browsers love those shared IP addresses that some VPNs provide, so VyprVPN offers a dedicated IP address and server for those that want the most control over their private server. Again, VyprVPN has a free trial for their Business Cloud, but after that, it starts at $349 a year.

About VyprVPN

We trust VPNs to hide our web traffic and our devices’ IP addresses, so we don’t only have to trust the software, but the company behind the software. VyprVPN is owned by a company called Golden Frog, which has been in business since 1994 serving nearly 200 different countries. Currently, their only paid products are VyprVPN, both business and personal, they also operate websites like Giganews, Texas.net and Data Foundry.3

Being based in Switzerland gives Golden Frog, and thus VyprVPN, a distinct advantage over the competition. That’s because Switzerland, known for its political neutrality, is not a member of Five Eyes, Nine Eyes or 14 Eyes, international surveillance alliances that our home country, the U.S, is a founding member of. That means that even if the Swiss government asked VyprVPN for customer information, they couldn’t legally force the company to give it up. Aside, from that, VyprVPN hardly logs any user data, so they wouldn’t have much to give them in the first place. Here’s exactly what the VPN logs:

  • Personal data: Name, phone number, payment information, physical address, email address.

Just to reiterate, that means that they won’t log information like our:

  • Device IP address
  • Router IP address
  • Connection timestamps
  • Communications content
  • Web traffic.

HACK: You can get away with being completely anonymous with VyprVPN by using a fake name and email address and using an anonymous payment method. That way, there’ll be no trace of you even using the VPN in the first place!

While we’re not thrilled about VyprVPN’s “deals” like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we remain hopeful that they’ll give us additional discounts in 2020. So far, we haven’t reviewed any VPNs that have revealed their 2020 sales yet, but we promise to stay vigilant.

In the meantime, learn more about VPNs, and how to buy one, in our VPN guide. People have different budgets and term lengths in mind, but there’s a ton of other factors to consider aside from pricing, from encryption methods to privacy jurisdictions to features like split tunneling, dynamic versus static IP addresses, privacy policies, Netflix access, and more. We broke down our favorite VPNs, so make sure you read about our detailed testing process before clicking purchase on any single service. Remember, this is your privacy we’re talking about, so doing your research is essential.
